Vehicle Insurance Overview

To legally register your car to obtain license plates and to operate a vehicle in New York State, you must carry auto insurance issued by a company licensed in New York. 

 

The minimum required coverage includes:

• Bodily Injury Liability: $25,000 per person / $50,000 per accident.

• Property Damage: $10,000 for regarding a single accident.

• Uninsured Motorist Coverage: $25,000 per person / $50,000 per accident.

• No-Fault/PIP Coverage: $50,000 per person.
